Optional Filling
In a bowl, start by adding the warm water and the dry yeast powder, mix well until the dry yeast powder has fully dissolved.
Add the egg, the salt, the sugar and the oil, mix all the ingredients together until combined.
Gradually add the wheat flour and keep mixing well. When you can no longer mix with the spoon, knead by hand until a smooth and uniform dough forms.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let dough rise for 40 minutes at room temperature.
After this indicated time, flour a table, place the dough on it and split it in half.
Shape one of these pieces into a ball then stretch it using a rolling pin into a 40cm diameter.
Once you’ve done that, top the dough with the tomato sauce, and spread evenly.
Add the oregano, the grated mozzarella cheese, the American cheese and the ham.
Roll the dough into a log, just like shown in the video.
Then roll it in the opposite direction, shaping it into a spiral, and set aside.
Repeat the same process with the other half of dough but just roll it once, into a log.
Once you’ve done that, in a removable-bottom cake pan, add 1 drizzle of oil and spread well.
Add the pieces of dough we prepared.
Add another 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce all over it, spread.
Add another 100g of grated mozzarella cheese.
Take to a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) and bake for 45 minutes.
Serve.
