Fried Japanese Cookies

Into a bowl, add the egg, the melted unsalted butter or margarine and 1 pinch of salt, mix all the ingredients very well.Add the milk at room temperature and the wheat flour, mix very well. When you can no longer mix with the spoon, knead it by hand.Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rest for 20 minutes.Into another bowl, add the eggs, the melted butter, the salt and the sugar, mix until combined.Add the wheat flour and mix very well again. Knead well.Cover the bowl and let the dough rest for 20 minutes.Meanwhile, get the first dough that was resting and split it in half, stretch out one of the halves until it’s about 12cm wide x 24cm long. Repeat this process with the other half.Repeat this process with the second dough as well, but don’t split it in half.Get one of the halves of the first dough and place it on a table, brush some water all over it, then top it with the second dough and finally add the other half of the first dough.With a rolling pin, slightly stretch out the dough pieces.Once you’ve done that, cut off the dough edges by using a pastry wheel cutter into a rectangular shape.Cut the dough into 4 equal-sized strips.Then cut it into squares, you’ll end up with 32 squares.Get one of these squares, rub some water on the edges and fold it in half, turn it over then fold in half again.Repeat this process with all the dough pieces.Fry them in hot oil until brown.Drain them on a plate lined with paper towels.Serve.

  • 1 Pinch of Salt
  • 3 Tablespoons of Sugar
  • 1 ½ Cups of Wheat Flour
