In a bowl, add the warm milk, the sugar, the dry yeast powder, the egg, the vanilla sugar and the salt, mix all the ingredients together until combined.
Gradually add the wheat flour and keep mixing.
When you can no longer mix with the spoon, start kneading by hand until a dough is formed.
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
After this indicated time, remove the dough from the bowl, transfer to a table and knead a bit more to remove the air bubbles from the dough, then split it into 10 equal-sized pieces.
Once you’ve done that, shape each piece of dough into a ball, cover them all with a plastic bag and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
After this indicated time, flour the table, place one of these dough balls over the flour and flip. Using a rolling pin, stretch the dough until not too thin nor too thick.
Using a pizza cutter, make 3 slits on the dough, for garnishing, and open a hole on each of them.
Repeat this process with all pieces of dough.
Once you’ve done that, in a skillet, add enough vegetable oil to cover the whole bottom and fry the pieces of dough in hot oil until both sides are golden brown.
Remove from the hot oil and soak up the excess fat on a plate lined with paper towels.
Finally, sprinkle icing sugar to taste all over the bread.
Serve.
