Chop 250g of cabbage and transfer it to a large bowl. Add the ground beef, the grated onion, one egg, season with salt and black pepper, mix it all together very well.
Into an ovenproof baking dish, add a drizzle of oil and spread well.
Get a portion of the meat mixture and round it into a ball, shaping it into a meatball. Repeat this process until you've used up all the meat.
Transfer these meatballs to the baking dish and cover with aluminum foil. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (392°F) for 40 to 50 minutes.
Grate the mozzarella cheese and transfer it to a bowl. Add the mayonnaise and mix very well.
Take the meatballs out of the oven, add some of the cheese mixture over each ball and take the baking dish back to the oven for 15 minutes or until the cheese melts.
Serve.
